General Electric Co. has moved to strengthen its industrial Internet strategy by agreeing to buy healthcare management software and analytics provider API Healthcare for an undisclosed amount.
API Healthcare’s offerings will be integrated into GE Healthcare’s hospital operations management services for hospitals to access operational data in real time, said Tuesday.
Michael Swinford, president and CEO of GE Healthcare Services, said the company intends for the acquisition to help hospitals reduce costs on assets, patients and labor through software, data, analytics and professional services.
The transaction is scheduled to complete in the first quarter of 2014, pending regulatory approvals.
Hartford, Wis.-based API Healthcare will operate within GE’s Predicitivity Industrial Internet business once the acquisition closes.
