Cubic's mission and performance solutions business has received an $8.5M task order to mature core architectures of a training system designed for the U.S. Navy's F/A-18 and EA-18G aircraft programs.

Cubic has received a $7.5M contract to build and demonstrate a prototype software-defined radio intended to support coordination of unmanned aircraft systems in flight.

Cubic’s PIXIA subsidiary will continue to provide its software platforms for data management and dissemination to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency after NGA exercised the second option year under a five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

The Defense Microelectronics Activity has certified Cubic's Nuvotronics subsidiary as a supplier of integrated circuits to the Department of Defense for military application through the agency's Trusted Access Program Office.

Cubic combined into a single business structure its mission solutions and global defense segments in August and Mike Knowles, president of the newly formed Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions segment, said he expects the consolidated defense business to improve operational efficiency and offer more integrated platforms to customers, Inside Defense reported Tuesday.

Cubic has demonstrated its application server offering could work with a VMware-built virtual machine monitoring platform through a compatibility test. "Our dense compute in a small form factor coupled with VMware’s ESXi platform, allows our customers to leverage their investments in virtualization at the edge of the battlefield," said Mike Barthlow, senior vice president and general manager of rugged IoT solutions at Cubic's mission and performance solutions segment.

Cubic Corp. will consolidate its defense business segments, effective immediately, to advance the company’s strategic priorities, drive customer value and enhance operational effectiveness, Cubic reported on Friday. The new segment will be led by Michael Knowles, senior vice president of Cubic Corporation and president of Cubic Global Defense (CGD) since 2018. 

Cubic has begun to ship updated networking, compute and power systems designed to function at the tactical edge even in austere environments. “Guided by continuous customer collaboration, we have made some key enhancements to compute performance and power management in the product line that we believe will better meet and exceed the current and future requirements of an emerging internet of battlefield things,” said Mike Barthlow, senior vice president and general manager of rugged internet of things at Cubic's mission solutions unit.

A communications relay offering built by Cubic’s mission solutions business has been recognized by the U.S. Navy for demonstrating its capacity to support potential vertical lift systems.

Cubic is scheduled to highlight multi-domain training products at the 2019 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference in Orlando, Fla.
