Lockheed to Help Develop Navy's Consolidated Afloat Network - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Navy’s Tactical Networks Program Office has awarded Lockheed Martin a new contract aimed at utilizing commercial information technology systems to develop the service branch’s afloat network.

Lockheed will collaborate with PMW 160, which operates under the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence, to deploy cyber-resilient networking hardware and software as part of the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services and Baseline Analysis of Alternates Services contract, the Navy said Thursday.

PMW 160 and Lockheed will facilitate CANES engineering design work and perform cost analysis, market research, design descriptions and product evaluation to support efforts to rapidly deploy networking platforms to the Navy’s fleet at a reduced cost.

Bob Bradley, chief management officer for PMW 160, said the Navy will conduct continuous market research across the spectrum of commercial off-the-shelf products as part of the BAAS effort.

PEO C4I delivers integrated communication and IT systems to support maritime forces’ information warfare and command-and-control operations.

The office procures and deploys C4I platforms to be used by Navy, joint and coalition warfighters.
