cf2The F-35 Patuxent River Integrated Test Force has completed an external weapons separation test on the Lockheed Martin-built F-35 Lightning II aircraft at the Atlantic Test Range.

The fighter jet discharged four 500-pound GBU-12 laser-guided bombs from the aircraft’s wings during the test, Lockheed Martin said Friday.

The F-35 Patuxent River Integrated Test Force worked to verify weapon separation accuracy of the F-35 and flight test engineers assessed the telemetry data from the guided bombs.

Test engineers also predicted the weapons’ trajectory through wind tunnel testing and computer analysis.
