The U.S. Navy partnered with Northrop Grumman to test a Leonardo-built surveillance radar aboard an MQ-8C Fire Scout aircraft.
The U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command plans to award Northrop Grumman a task order under a basic ordering agreement to examine the possibility of updating an unmanned helicopter platform's mission processing unit and adding weapons into the air vehicle.
A Northrop Grumman-built unmanned helicopter has achieved an initial operational capability status from the U.S. Navy that will allow the aircraft to deploy for training and fleet operations.
Northrop Grumman will deliver five Fire Scout MQ-8C unmanned air systems and two lightweight fuel cells to the U.S. Navy under a $55M contract modification.
