RTX-Rafael JV to Establish Air Defense Missile Production Facility in Arkansas

A joint venture between RTX's Raytheon business and Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will make a $33 million investment to establish a facility in East Camden, Arkansas, to manufacture the Tamir missile for the Iron Dome weapon system and the U.S. version of the missile, dubbed SkyHunter. The Raytheon-Rafael Area Protection Systems JV will break ground on the manufacturing facility before the end of 2023 and plans to kick off missile production in 2025, RTX said Thursday.

Navy, MDA Test Lockheed-Made Aegis Combat System Aboard USS Carl Levin

The U.S. Navy and the Missile Defense Agency demonstrated the multiple target detection feature of a Lockheed Martin-built Aegis Weapon System installed on the destroyer USS Carl Levin during an integrated air and missile defense test. The joint test, called Vigilant Wyvern, saw the Aegis Weapon System-48 engage anti-ship cruise missiles and ballistic missile defense targets in a realistic IAMD scenario in the Pacific Missile Test Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii, Lockheed said Thursday.

GDMS Secures NSA Certification for 1st TACLANE E-Series Ethernet Encryptor; Stephen Marker Quoted

The National Security Agency has granted certification to General Dynamics' mission systems division for its first TACLANE E-Series product designed to protect top-secret government information that passes through ethernet data networks. The TACLANE-ES10 (KG-185A) encryptor is a Layer 2 Ethernet Data Encryption Cryptographic Interoperability Specification-compliant platform that works to secure classified information in high-speed networks at data rates up to 10 Gigabits per second, GDMS said Thursday.

Small satellite builder Terran Orbital has secured a contract from Lockheed Martin to manufacture 36 Beta satellite buses for the second tranche of the Space Development Agency's data communications transport layer.
