CACI Secures $420M Army Contract for C5ISR Support; John Mengucci Quoted

CACI has booked a $420 million contract to provide engineering services for two U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command components. Responsibilities under the five-year, single-award task order include mechanical, electrical and modeling and simulation engineering support, CACI announced from its Reston, Virginia headquarters on Tuesday.

Missile Defense Agency, Boeing-Led Team Conduct GMD Interceptor Test

A Boeing-led industry team and the Missile Defense Agency have demonstrated the ability of the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system to intercept an intermediate-range ballistic missile target. During the test, a three-stage GMD interceptor was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, which deployed an RTX-built Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle to intercept a threat-representative ballistic missile target air-launched from the Board Ocean Area, Boeing said Monday.

Don Parente, vice president of public sector sales and solution architecture at MetTel, said the U.S. Mint and other federal agencies should begin planning amid the looming retirement of plain old telephone services and other copper telephone lines. According to Parente, the Federal Communication Commission recently permitted local exchange carriers to shut down copper wires, a move that is accelerating the issuance of disconnect notices to agencies.

New York State Partners With IBM, Other Companies to Build Semiconductor Research Facility

The government of New York has partnered with IBM, Micron, Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron and other companies to invest $10 billion in the establishment of a new semiconductor research and development facility at the Albany NanoTech Complex in the state. The facility will be equipped with an ASML-built high-numerical aperture extreme ultraviolet lithography system, which IBM used to develop the world’s first 2 nanometer node chip in 2021, the company said Tuesday.

Navy Begins Work on New Training Facility at Institute for Advanced Learning & Research Campus

Ground has been broken at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research campus in Danville, Virginia, marking the beginning of construction of a new regional training center for the U.S. Navy.
