Intel’s foundry business will further advance the development and testing of chip tape-outs and prototypes under the third phase of the Department of Defense’s Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes-Commercial program. DOD awarded the RAMP-C program’s Phase 3 through the Strategic and Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems other transaction authority agreement, also known as S2MARTS OTA, with the National Security Technology Accelerator, Intel said Monday.

Steve Escaravage, an executive vice president within Booz Allen Hamilton’s global defense business, said the U.S. federal government and the Department of Defense should find new pathways that would enable industry to back defense missions as the country faces strategic competition. Pragyansmita Nayak, chief data scientist at Hitachi Vantara Federal, said federal agencies should adopt data fabrics to derive actionable insights from large volumes of data to drive mission outcomes and improve citizen services. “Data fabric architectures integrate disparate data sources into a unified, scalable, and well-governed infrastructure to fuel mission outcomes in an accessible way,” Nayak wrote in an opinion piece published Monday.
