Get to know Juan Ramirez of the U.S. Department of Defense
Juan Ramirez is a part of the Directorate Office of the Chief Information Officer in the U.S. Department of Defense as the Director for 5G Cross Functional Team (CFT) C3 Infrastructure (C31).
As the Director of the 5G CFT, Mr Ramírezcoordinates and incorporates 5G into defense-wide projects and carries out the DoD’s Digital Modernization Strategy goals. He provides technical and policy expertise, programmatic oversight, and general guidance.
Juan Ramirez works with other government agencies to set guidelines and objectives for domestic 5G-related critical infrastructure and supports foreign collaboration in designing and prototyping 5G systems. Mr. Ramírez is also in charge of the Executive Secretariat’s support for the DoD 5G Oversight Committee, an executive body of top leaders and stakeholders.

Juan Ramirez’s Career and Leadership Journey
Before joining the C3I Directorate in January 2023, Juan Ramirez had a wealth of experience in the government defense industry. In 2019, he joined the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as the Chief of Programming & Planning. During his time in the office, DISA became a leading agency for protecting and connecting warfighters in cyberspace and providing top-notch IT support for battle.
In 2021, Mr. Ramirez joined the Office of the Secretary of Defense as Deputy Director. He played a significant role in improving C3’s business planning and technological lead. At the same time, Juan worked in the Revolving Funds Directorate of the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
