A subsidiary of systems integrator Tyto Athene has secured a five-year, $168 million Army contract to assist with network infrastructure modernization. The award was issued to Tyto Government Solutions as part of the service branch’s ITES-3S contract vehicle supporting the Army’s Europe Infrastructure Modernization Capabilities Set, the company announced from Herndon, Virginia on Tuesday.

The aeronautics business of General Atomics plans to put forward a modified version of its MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft system to address the U.S. Army's requirement for an armed scout aircraft. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. head Dave Alexander made the revelation in a recent interview, saying, "We’re trying to jump into that [opportunity]."

BAE Systems' ordnance systems business unit has selected the U.S. defense subsidiary of South Korea-based Hanwha Aerospace to upgrade a production building at a government-owned ammunition manufacturing complex in Virginia. Hanwha Defense USA will help the U.S. Army modernize an existing Radford Army Ammunition Plant facility that manufactures propellants for the service branch, BAE said Thursday.

The U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation has released a draft solicitation for a potential $127 million follow-on contract to maintain a computer-generated system for managing the entire constructive modeling and simulation life cycle. PEO STRI requires software development, integration, testing, engineering releases and maintenance of the One Semi-Automated Forces program, which supports force modernization and transformation modeling and simulation initiatives, according to a notice posted Tuesday on SAM.gov.
