Sidus Space has integrated NASA Stennis Space Center's Autonomous Satellite Technology for Resilient Applications engineering unit into its LizzieSat FlatSat small satellite vehicle in preparation for its upcoming launch. The company said Thursday the integration was completed at its facility in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and involved multiple integration and communications tests to verify the ability to load the ASTRA flight software into the engineering unit.

Amy Gilliland, president of General Dynamics Information Technology, said GDIT is ramping up its investments in digital engineering in 2024 driven by the interest of the Department of Defense and military services in the field. Gilliland, a six-time Wash100 awardee, told the publication in an interview that GDIT has witnessed a “demand from customers … to design programs in a digital engineering environment.”

A BAE Systems business has won an $86.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy for engineering and technical services in support of systems used by the service branch, Special Operations Forces, homeland security, defense and non-Department of Defense organizations. The DOD said Thursday that services are for command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems and platforms.

Precise Systems on Nov. 10 closed the transaction to acquire Excet, a provider of scientific research and engineering services to Department of Defense customers, including the U.S. Army and Navy. Excet's areas of expertise include alternative energy, biotechnology, synthetic biology and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives threat assessment, and many of its employees are holders of advanced degrees in various disciplines, Precise Systems said.
