Palo Alto Networks will help the California Department of General Services build a consolidated security infrastructure for government applications and information technology systems using the Palo Alto Networks Security Platform.
The company said Wednesday the new security infrastructure will include industrial control systems, distribution systems for legislative information, office applications and environments, and others that DGS manages across 69 sites.
Palo Alto Networks Security Platform integrates with VMware‘s network virtualization platform NSX in working to optimize California DGS’ new software-defined data center, Palo Alto Networks added.
“With the Palo Alto Networks Security Platform, we can move away from traditional firewalls and strategies of blocking ports and IP addresses because its capabilities and native integration with VMware make it easy for us to identify Layer 7 traffic and filter it,” said Richard Helton, security operations manager at California DGS.
