Exelis has completed a series of factory acceptance tests for the Aireon-built aircraft surveillance data processing and distribution ground system.
Ed Sayadian, vice president of civil and aerospace systems at Exelis, said Monday the company conducted the factory acceptance test to confirm that the Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast surveillance technology meets all requirements and interfaces.
The space-based surveillance system works to capture, decode and transmit data to a ground-based data processing facility via the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation.
The ADS-B technology, scheduled for deployment this month, is designed to help air navigation service providers monitor air traffic over oceans, polar and remote regions for global clients.
