The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has awarded $300,000 in total grants to six teams of developers and healthcare organizations that aim to live-test new health IT applications.
The medical app developers were chosen and matched with healthcare providers through ONC’s Market R&D Challenge, according to a blog post published Tuesday on the Department of Health and Human Services website.
Each host-innovator pair will receive $50,000 to demonstrate the potential of apps in managing care coordination, patient data or medication use.
The winning teams are:

- CreateIT Healthcare Solutions and MHP Salud
- Gecko Health Innovations and Boston Children’s Hospital
- Optima Integrated Health and University of California, San Francisco, Cardiology Division
- PhysIQ and Henry Ford Health System
