Northrop Grumman has awarded Advanced Integration Technology a contract to produce turnkey systems and tools for the production of E-2D Advanced Hawkeye planes.
AIT said Tuesday it will also help install computerized numerical control machines, tool cribs, ovens, metrology instruments and back shops at Northrop’s aircraft integration plant in St. Augustine, Florida.
Northrop is expanding the facility to accommodate the E-2D development program, AIT said.
The tooling company will provide Northrop with assembly platforms for the aircraft’s wing, fuselage and cockpit structures.
AIT plans to deploy approximately 25 technicians to perform contract work and is scheduled to deliver all the production line tools to Northrop in the first quarter of 2016.
