Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has received a $7.6 million contract from ADS to build mission command on-the-move systems for the U.S. Army.
The company will complete delivery of its global network on-the-move-active distribution system comprising of ground station satellite hubs, training and installation services and satellite services to the client by March, Exelis said Monday.
Based on an open system architecture, GNOMAD features a broadband, satellite communication networked command and control connectivity and uses low profile antenna designs.
Nick Bobay, president of the Exelis night vision and communications services division, said the technology is designed for the communications environment the Army uses for operations and unit deployment.
Exelis will perform production work at its Fort Wayne, Indiana-based facility.
