Red Hat has rolled out a consulting service aimed at helping government customers to implement and secure cloud-based information technology systems.
The Red Hat Cloud for Government program is designed to offer tools and methods for agencies to manage cloud infrastructure and computing services in their data centers, the company said Monday.
“Budget-strapped agencies want to know how to effectively implement new technologies like IaaS and PaaS, and use third-party cloud providers without making things too expensive or too complicated,” said Paul Smith, general manager and vice president for Red Hat’s public sector.
He added the company launched the offering to help organizations leverage open-source cloud technology to increase agility of their IT departments.
Red Hat’s government-focused IT team aims to combine the Red Hat OpenStack and OpenShift platforms with FedRAMP-certified public cloud systems from Amazon Web Services, Dell and Autonomic Resources through the program.
