URS Corp. and Swedish emission control technology firm Mobotec have forged an alliance to sell two of Mobotec’s product offerings to coal-fired power plant operators in the U.S.
Mobotec chose URS as the exclusive North American marketing partner for the Rotating Opposed Fire Air and Rotamix advanced selective non-catalytic reduction systems, URS said Friday.
The products are designed to help utilities reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, according to URS.
“As a result of increasingly stringent environmental regulations, existing systems must operate at peak efficiency and reliability, and must provide maximum and sustainable performance to meet state and federal emissions requirements,†said Jonas Klingspor, URS vice president.
Klingspor added the ROFA and Rotamix platforms work to manage a plant’s combustion engine performance and fossil fuel usage.
Mobotec developed ROFA technology to also cut NOx emissions by up to 65 percent as well as reduce industrial sulfur trioxide, carbon monoxide and excess air levels, according to URS.
URS says the Rotamix SNCR system is designed to decrease recurring chemical usage at power plants by up to 50 percent.
