SAPÂ plans to transition its data centers and facilities to having 100-percent renewable energy-powered infrastructures in 2014 as part of company efforts to reduce carbon emissions amid its cloud business push.
The software conglomerate also targets its 2000 levels of greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, the company said Monday.
Peter Graf, chief sustainability officer at SAP, said the company intends for the environmentally-friendly operational approach to grow its cloud software market presence and further its sustainability initiative.
SAP said its overall carbon emissions increased by 12 percent in 2013.
The company is also implementing programs to subsidize electric vehicles for Germany-based employees, operate a mobile app for public and private organizations carpooling and invest $4 million in tree planting and clean energy projects.
