IBM and Technicolor have partnered to introduce a cloud-based monitoring and management service for the consumer electronics market, IT Pro Portal reported Friday.
Jamie Hinks writes the Virdata service is built for customers to manage Internet-connected objects and machine-to-machine services using device and application tools such as big data analytics stacks.
Vince Pizzica, senior executive vice president and president of corporate partnerships and ventures at Technicolor, told the publication the company intends for the service to address the growing digital market and expand its ecosystems.
The pay-as-you-go service is intended for markets such as automotive, utilities, health, industrial automation and retail, according to the report.
