Google Cloud has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, or FedRAMP, authorization at the high level for its Vertex AI Search and Generative AI on Vertex AI.
The company said Friday the latest development follows the recent FedRAMP authorization for Gemini in Workshop apps and the Gemini app, the first generative AI assistants for productivity and collaboration suites to secure FedRAMP high authorization. Google Cloud now has over 100 FedRAMP-authorized services.
What are Vertex AI Search, Generative AI on Vertex AI
Vertex AI Search is designed to enable agencies to perform multimodal searches across external, internal and proprietary data sources. This enhances information discoverability and transparency of LLM operations.
Generative AI on Vertex AI, meanwhile, is Google Cloud’s enterprise platform that hosts the Gemini family of models. It allows agencies to utilize advanced AI capabilities.
The Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs is one of several federal agencies already utilizing Vertex AI Search. It has integrated the AI platform to streamline passport and travel services, including passport and visa information, overseas citizen services and travel advisories.
The National Archives and Records Administration also integrated these tools into its searchable database, enhancing its semantic search capabilities and data privacy. In addition, several research-focused agencies utilize Vertex AI Search to boost capabilities to search diverse datasets, such as images, videos and research papers.
