The U.S. Navy has awarded GE Aerospace a contract for performance-based logistics avionics support of the service’s F/A-18, AV-8B and AH1-Z aircraft fleets deployed in various international locations.
GE Aerospace said Monday the five-year deal will provide supply, warehousing and logistics management support for the spares used in the military aircraft. The company will also perform depot-level repair of aircraft units and subassemblies and fleet support at naval bases worldwide.
Ensuring Navy Aircraft’s Operational Availability
According to Matthew Burns, general manager of avionics systems at GE Aerospace, the latest award reflects the company’s ongoing partnership with the Navy that guarantees 99 percent operational availability of its aircraft fleets. “Supporting the safety and operations of our armed forces is one of the most important things we do,” he stressed.
The contract will employ GE Aerospace’s expertise in aircraft parts management systems, which provides scalable architectures while maintaining standard inventory station interfaces and safety-critical release control. The same systems are deployed worldwide and utilized by several fourth- and fifth-generation fixed-wing and rotary-wing military aircraft operators.
