The contract covers the management of equipment, supply chain, mail, transportation and logistics. The Apache Innovations JV will also be responsible for disposal operations at Glenn Research Center.
The company will also procure measuring and test equipment and conduct calibration services across the facility, including the main campus Lewis Field and the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility.
Work as part of the phase-in part of the contract will begin on Feb. 15 while full contract performance starts April 1.
Glenn Research Center
The Glenn Research Center is home to a research aircraft hangar, wind tunnels, drop towers and vacuum chambers. NASA’s Orion spacecraft, which will be deployed during the Artemis mission, is undergoing tests at the Neil Armstrong Test Facility.
According to Robert Overy, project manager for Orion, the spacecraft will be subjected to maximum stress and highest load to ensure astronaut safety.
