Mitre has secured a contract to continue to operate a federally funded research and development center for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services over the next five years.
The CMS Alliance to Modernize Healthcare is the first FFRDC dedicated to strengthening the U.S. health care system and addressing the business, policy, technology and operational challenges affecting the health sector, Mitre said Tuesday.
The nonprofit research organization has led the Health FFRDC for the past decade, serving as an objective adviser to CMS and other federal agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health.
“From artificial intelligence in healthcare to cancer research breakthroughs, the Health FFRDC is ready to support government sponsors with what comes next,” said Kim Warren, vice president of the Center for Transforming Health at Mitre.
