CGI has been named a benefactor member of Health Level Seven International, a standards development organization that aims to enable interoperability in global health information systems.
With the company’s HL7 membership, its personnel will be trained and certified in the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standard for exchanging electronic health records, according to Steve Sousa, a senior vice president at CGI’s federal arm.
The membership also supports CGI’s strategic effort to align its platforms and services with international standards adopted by public and private health organizations worldwide.
“As the healthcare ecosystem works to meet new challenges, CGI leverages its global footprint, informed by global insights, and its two decades in the federal marketplace so customers in the U.S. can meaningfully reinvent digital strategies, optimize operations and improve the patient journey,” said Sousa.
American National Standards Institute-certified HL7 establishes a set of standards and messaging formats to provide a framework for developing and exchanging electronic health records.
