When ManTech was acquired by The Carlyle Group in September 2022, Matt Tait was selected to lead the enterprise as CEO and president.
Now, six months later, Executive Mosaic sat down with Tait, a 2023 Wash100 Award winner, to get an inside look at the integration and find out what’s next for ManTech in this new chapter.
“ManTech and Carlyle have been a natural fit together — it’s really been seamless,” Tait said in an exclusive video interview. After the $4.2 billion transaction, Tait said Carlyle has taken a “let ManTech be ManTech” approach, allowing the company to stay true to its culture, core values and mission.
“They really love that we’re a national security company, that we’re focused on the federal market — they love the brand of ManTech,” Tait explained. “They also like the focus that I have as the CEO around our people, around our customer — we deliver on important national security missions and we need to continue to do that — and the third thing is around innovation.”
Tait’s priority on the people of ManTech centers around keeping national security at the heart of the mission, cultivating the right culture and “making sure we have the right environment so people feel like they have a voice and feel valued,” Tait shared.
“I always tell everybody, ‘If you want to do national security work, we are the place to do it.’ I wake up every morning wondering what’s best for our country — I want our whole company to feel like that,” he said.
