Ensco has established a subsidiary in Brazil in a bid to bolster support for its customer base in the country and in South America.
Ensco Tecnologias do Brasil LTDA is envisioned to help enhance the region’s railway infrastructure by leveraging the U.S. Federal Railroad Administration’s Transportation Technology Center, the parent company said Tuesday.
Through the subsidiary, the Brazilian entities can access test facilities at TTC, which is being operated and maintained by Ensco under a potential 20-year, $570.9 million contract.
“[Creating the new business] demonstrates our commitment to provide the best products, services and customer support to growing the Brazilian railway sector and to expanding our presence throughout South America,” commented Ensco President Jeff Stevens.
The engineering firm’s automated railway inspection technologies are currently being used by major freight and passenger lines in Brazil, including Rumo, Vale and SuperVia Trens Urbanos.
In 2022, Ensco partnered with state-run Infra S.A. to lend its products and infrastructure planning expertise to newly formed train companies under the Pro Trilhos railway authorization program.
