BAE Systems has released an updated version of its aircraft maintenance offering that is designed to enhance the cybersecurity defenses of the F-16 fighter jets.
The company said Wednesday the Viper Memory Loader Verifier II supports the maintenance of radars, mission and flight control computers, data recorders, electronic warfare, engine control, navigation and other mission-critical systems onboard the F-16 aircraft.
Viper MLV II allows for aircraft software installation and verification, flight and fault data download and third-party application software support.
“This new version of the product will include cyber-hardened aircraft mission capabilities, with an open system architecture that reduces lifecycle costs,” said Carl Huncharek, F-16 product line director for BAE.
BAE is deploying six Viper MLV II systems to two international military customers under foreign military sales contracts, with potential options for 15 additional systems.
The production of the Viper MLV II will occur at BAE’s facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
