The State Department has approved Australia’s request to procure Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile systems and related equipment under a potential $94 million foreign military sales deal.
Australia intends for the missiles to increase the country’s ability to address threats by countering enemy radar emitters on land or at sea and to improve tactical aircraft survivability, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
Northrop Grumman will be the principal contractor for the sale, which includes up to 30 AGM-88E2 AARGM guidance and control sections.
Australia also has asked to buy from the U.S. government up to 45 High Speed Anti Radiation Missile rocket motors, warheads and control sections.
Several other items covered by the sale include AGM-88E2 AARGM all-up-round tactical and captive air training missiles, M-Code GPS receivers and EA-18G Growler aircraft test services.
