Patrick Perry, director of emerging technology for federal DOD/IC at Zscaler, said contractors seeking to accelerate their compliance with the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program should take a transformational, user-centric approach to security by adopting a secure access service edge framework.
“Using an organization’s defined business rules – or in this case the CMMC compliance rules – a SASE framework dynamically allows or denies connection to applications and services,” Perry wrote in a commentary published Tuesday on FCW.
He noted that implementing a SASE framework could help organizations address complexity and become more agile.
“A transformative approach to security, starting with the data and including zero trust models, will help organizations stay dynamic, agile, and competitive all while improving the user experience which is probably the greatest risk to data security,” Perry added.
Perry also cited the Biden administration’s executive order on cybersecurity and how it highlights the importance of DOD-industry partnerships, cloud adoption and a zero-trust architecture.
