Dewberry has received a task order of an undisclosed sum through the Geospatial and Services Contract 3 vehicle to help the U.S. Geological Service expand elevation-derived hydrography coverage in Alaska by 9,880 square miles.
The Fairfax, Virginia-based company said Friday the updated hydrography of northern Alaska will be used by the National Hydrography Dataset and will increase the number of NHD features by approximately three times.
Dewberry employed five-meter cell-size resolution, hydro-enforced digital terrain models to produce quality level 5 interferometric synthetic aperture radar data of the state.
A semi-automated process was used to incorporate the IFSAR data and deliver hydrographic flowlines and connectors in compliance with NHD requirements.
NHD is mapped at a scale of 1:24,000 and is used to represent the U.S. water drainage network. USGS partnered with industry and the government to update the dataset.
