General Atomics' aeronautical systems business has selected Cobham Aerospace Connectivity to deliver anti-jam GPS technology for an unmanned aircraft system used by the U.S. Army.
Cobham said Monday it will supply the Digital Antenna Control Unit-8 anti-jam technology for the General Atomics-made MQ-1C ER Gray Eagle Extended Range UAS.
The anti-jam technology is designed to help Gray Eagle ER perform reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition in scenarios with limited GPS access.
Matt Cadwell, sales director for North America at Cobham, said DACU-8 allows GE-ER to perform RSTA operations in contested environments for the Army and the joint force.
Gray Eagle ER will use an antenna system that combines DACU technology with Controlled Radiation Pattern Array. The combination provides a sensing capability to help the aircraft detect, locate and address enemy jammers.
