L3Harris Technologies has received a contract from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to help prototype artificial intelligence and machine learning systems that will process large volumes of data from airborne and space-based assets.
The company said Monday it will perform research, development and demonstration activities in support of the Department of Defense’s efforts to obtain actionable intelligence through AI and ML concepts.
Contract work also covers the automation of video and image processing functions to leverage the large amounts of DoD-collected data.
Ed Zoiss, president of space and airborne systems at L3Harris, said the company will work to “directly address the data processing challenges within the DOD and Intelligence Community†as part of the research initiative.
L3Haris will perform contract services in New York, Florida and Virginia.
