Idemia has partnered with the government of Oklahoma to field a secure digital U.S. driver’s license for smartphone users within the state.
The Oklahoma Mobile ID features privacy options and anti-fraud defenses and can be electronically validated through the Department of Public Safety’s system of record, the company said Friday.
Idemia noted the offering marks the initial public launch of the ISO 18013-5 mobile driver’s license system in the U.S.
“This represents a watershed moment in user control of their identity information and ensures businesses and organizations who transact with the ID can be confident knowing the digital credential is accurate and up-to-date,†said Matt Thompson, senior vice president of civil and mobile ID at Idemia’s identity and security business.
