Shaun Bierweiler, president of government solutions business at Cloudera, wrote in a LinkedIn article published Thursday that investing in internet of things and other information technology platforms could help higher education institutions improve operational efficiency and student experience.
Bierweiler said there are three benchmarks universities and colleges can home in as they make investments in a “connected campus†and one is increasing student success.
Another benchmark is securing the campus. “Having the security in place to proactively monitor network activities and respond to threats is a major step toward a secure, connected campus that protects sensitive information—a paramount concern in an era of seemingly endless data breaches,†he wrote.
Bierweiler, who also serves as vice president and general manager of Cloudera’s public sector portfolio, said educational institutions could improve student experience by adopting IT as a “comprehensive, multipurpose tool for providing services, promoting collaboration, accelerating learning and productivity, identifying risk areas and resolving issues proactively.â€
