The U.S. Forest Service has partnered with Axon to help the agency's law enforcement and investigative agency deploy Taser weapons and wearable cameras designed to integrate data with a cloud-based evidence management system.
Axon said Monday it will deliver Body 2 cameras that are interoperable with the Axon Evidence platform, which has been certified for government use through the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
USFS will also field the Taser X26P conducted energy weapon across the agency through multiple increments. The orders, which the company booked during the third quarter, also includes a signal performance power magazine used to power the Tasers and automate camera recordings as needed.
Richard Coleman, vice president and general manager of Axon’s federal business, said USFS became "the first federal agency to deploy Axon's ecosystem of life saving technologies across their law enforcement enterprise."
Coleman added the company supports the agency in its mission to protect 193M acres of forests and grassland areas throughout the U.S.
According to Axon, USFS has used the firm's Taser products since 2008 and recently launched an agency-wide effort to deploy Taser X26P.
