The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has unveiled an initiative that seeks to further the capacities of medium and large format midwave and longwave infrared detectors.
DARPA said Friday it plans to create and test technologies that will work to curve infrared focal-plane arrays in a move to augment detector functions through the FOcal arrays for Curved Infrared Imagers program.
Additionally, the agency intends to reach a receiver operating characteristic curve of 12.5 millimeters to allow the manufacture of more compact imagers and mitigate potential stress on the components.
DARPA will hold a proposers’ day on Aug. 13 to provide more details and encourage collaborative arrangements between research teams in line with the project, according to a FedBizOpps notice.
