Dynetics, Maxar Sign Teaming Agreement for NASA Gateway Power, Propulsion Element

Maxar Technologies and Dynetics will collaborate to build a spacecraft platform intended to support maneuvering, communications, attitude control and initial docking functions of NASA’s planned lunar gateway.

Dynetics agreed to assist in the integration, assembly and demonstration of the Gateway power and propulsion element under a teaming agreement between the two companies, Maxar said Tuesday.

The partnership comes nearly two months after Maxar secured a potential $375M contract with NASA to construct the solar electric propulsion-based spacecraft.

Mike Gold, vice president of civil space at Maxar, said Dynetics’ decades of human space exploration experience will play a role in the Artemis lunar mission and potential efforts to create infrastructure necessary for Mars exploration.

“This is an exciting time for lunar exploration. We look for space partners that share our similar core values and are eager to see America return to the Moon,” said Kim Doering, vice president for space systems at Dynetics.
