Three senior leaders of Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory have been named to a task force created by the Defense Science Board to explore methods for the U.S. military to meet national defense strategy objectives.
Christine Fox, Dave Van Wie and Christopher Watkins will participate in DSB’s 2019 Summer Study on the Future of U.S. Military Superiority, APL said Monday.
Fox is the assistant director for policy and analysis at APL and leads strategy exercises that aim to address challenges the government faces when making national security policies and decisions.
Van Wie serves as head of the laboratory’s air and missile defense sector; while Watkins leads APL’s sea control efforts as well as its unconventional littoral warfare program area.
Mike Griffin, undersecretary of defense for research and engineering, said in a previously issued memorandum that the task force will explore the full spectrum of U.S. capabilities that can “manage escalation and deter adversary aggression.â€
DSB expects the group to complete a final report on the study in 2020.
