Betty Thompson, chief people officer at Booz Allen Hamilton, has said there are several factors that employers can consider to attract and retain top talent in a competitive technology market.
Thompson wrote in a commentary published Thursday on the Washington Business Journal that companies seeking to retain tech talent should offer flexible career paths to employees and provide them with opportunities to take part in projects that align with their personal goals and interests.
Employers should understand the importance of mission and values to tech professionals; improve employee experience through holistic support and flexible work options; and make inclusion a priority, she noted.
“Companies demonstrating equality and inclusion of women, people of color, veterans, members of the LGBTQ community, and people with disabilities will be the most effective and efficient in building the best overall talent pool,†Thompson said.
"It’s important for current and prospective employees to see representation at all levels but especially at the most senior levels, including the C-suite and boardroom."
