The Department of Homeland Security has called on industry to help determine the information technology services necessary to help the agency modernize legacy compute and storage, cloud migration systems, move apps to the cloud and to optimize data centers.
DHS issued Tuesday a request for information on FedBizOpps to seek inputs from potential vendors that could assist in the planned IT modernization efforts under the agency’s EAGLE Next Generation Program.
The department is soliciting responses from companies that have previous experience updating and migrating on premise, federal applications to internal private cloud platforms, other data center environments and cloud service providers certified through the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
DHS is considering a hybrid IT, multicloud and software-as-a-service approach to address the requirements.
Interested parties can submit responses to the RFI notice through March 20.
In 2018, DHS started moving nearly 100 of its 596 application systems to the cloud, with 29 systems already operating in the platform.
The agency expects to continue migration in fiscal years 2019 and 2020.
