Kratos Defense and Security Solutions and Space Vector have teamed up to design, manufacture and integrate a suborbital launch vehicle under the U.S. Air Force’s Sounding Rocket Program-4.
The industry team will build the rocket to support tests of prototype weapons and missile defense systems, Kratos said Wednesday.
Space Vector and Northrop Grumman‘s innovation systems segment won positions on a seven-year, $424M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract last month for SRP-4 support services.
Dave Carter, president of Kratos’ defense and rocket support services division, said the company has previous experience providing rocket systems designed to help the Department of Defense and NASA address national security requirements.
