Symantec has achieved “in process” status under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program for two software applications designed to secure cloud computing applications and sensitive data.
The company said Monday it seeks FedRAMP certification for the Cloud Access Security Broker and Data Loss Prevention platforms under Department of Homeland Security sponsorship.
CASB works to protect cloud-based information technology accounts and apps against security threats while DLP helps secure information across cloud, endpoints, storage, email and websites
“We understand the unique challenges our federal customers face and are making strategic investments to help them securely and confidently migrate to the cloud,” said Chris Townsend, vice president of Symantec’s federal business.
Symantech obtained FedRAMP approval in February for an email security service offering and noted it seeks to leverage Amazon Web Services‘ GovCloud environment to deploy an integrated cyber defense platform for government customers.
