SIMBA Chain has secured a contract to provide a blockchain-as-a-service platform for the U.S. Air Force to manage supply chain and logistics operations.
The Air Force will use the cloud-based BaaS in efforts to secure the military service’s additive manufacturing program and its network that transports millions of components worldwide, SIMBA Chain said Tuesday.
The contract award comes after the Defense Department sought commercial technology platforms that can help the service branch simplify supply chain and logistics processes.
Indiana Technology and Manufacturing Companies and the University of Notre Dame created SIMBA Chain through a grant the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded last year.
