Boeing Invests in Propulsion System Developer Accion Systems via HorizonX - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBoeing has invested in Accion Systems to support production and delivery of electric propulsion systems for satellites and other space vehicles.

Boeing said Wednesday the investment, which was led by its HorizonX Ventures arm in partnership with GettyLab, will allow Accion to expand its manufacturing operations, as well as access Boeing’s personnel and facilities.

Boeing also announced that Accion recently released a new propulsion technology platform called the Tiled Ionic Liquid Electrospray system, which is designed to extend the service life and increase the maneuverability of satellites and other spacecraft.

Brian Schettler, managing director of HorizonX, said Accion’s offerings can bring modern capabilities to satellites, space vehicles and customers.

He added that supporting startups that develop advanced technologies will help boost satellite innovation and provide more opportunities in Earth orbit and deep space.

Two engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology established Accion in 2014.
