The National Institute of Standards and Technology has partnered with Florida International University to implement outreach programs that will focus on cybersecurity education, training and workforce development.
NIST said Wednesday its National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education program will oversee the agency-university collaboration as part of efforts to help address gaps in training and labor supply.
“It is important that we extend our relationships to include employers from industry and the non-profit sectors so that we can increase standardization for cybersecurity education, training and workforce development in the United States,” said NICE Director Rodney Petersen.
FIU and the New America think tank have received a potential five-year, $1.3 million grant to facilitate outreach activities through the NICE Stakeholder Engagement Program.
