Judy Marks, CEO of Siemens‘ U.S. subsidiary, has been appointed as chair of the board of directors at the company’s philanthropic arm.

She will lead the Siemens Foundation board as it works to help develop future scientists and engineers as well as sustain a workforce focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the foundation said Tuesday.

“Not only does [Marks] bring vast experience from her leadership of Siemens businesses, she is someone who has personally benefited from a strong STEM education and is committed to ensuring that as many young people today as possible – from all walks of life – have access to similar opportunities,” said Siemens Foundation CEO David Etzwiler.

Marks assumed leadership of Siemens’ U.S. arm Jan. 1 and concurrently serves as executive vice president of new equipment and solutions at the industrial conglomerate’s Dresser-Rand subsidiary.

She joined Siemens in 2011 as president and CEO of the company’s government technologies segment.

Marks previously held a 27-year career at Lockheed Martin where she served in various leadership roles such as vice president of strategy and business development at the electronic systems business; president of the transportation and security solutions arm; and president of the information systems and global services unit.
