Curt Dukes, former director of the National Security Agency‘s information assurance directorate, has joined the Center for Internet Security as executive vice president.
He will oversee the center’s security best practices automation group that handles CIS controls and security benchmarks as well as tools designed to automate standards evaluation, CIS said Tuesday.
Dukes will also lead efforts to expand the nonprofit’s standards content, adopt security best practices and develop tools to facilitate the implementation of CIS Benchmark and Controls standards.
“Curt Dukes’ three decades of senior executive leadership and his unparalleled track record of pioneering and managing complex cybersecurity products and services make him an ideal leader for the security best practices automation Group,” said John Gilligan, CIS board chair and interim CEO.
Dukes previously directed the NSA/Central Security Service Commercial Solutions Center for six years before he was appointed information assurance director in 2013.
He also served as chief of the agency’s systems and networks analysis center from 2004 to 2007 and supervised a group of technical professionals who conduct technology risk assessments, vulnerability research and cyber defense efforts.
