UCF Wins 3rd Straight Title in Raytheon-Backed College Cyber Competition; David Wajsgras Comments

The University of Central Florida has won its third consecutive national championship in an annual national college cybersecurity competition that Raytheon acts as title sponsor for.

The top 10 college and university teams from regional competitions faced off to protect a network from the attackers with the use of Raytheon tools to detect insider threats, track network activity and identify Linux server vulnerabilities, Raytheon said Sunday.

“Congratulations to the three-time champion, University of Central Florida,” said David Wajsgras, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business segment.

“As global networks face nearly constant attack, NCCDC is a perfect extension of Raytheon’s global Cyber Academy initiative, helping to develop the next generation of cyber defenders,” added Wajsgras.

UCF will travel to the some of the nation’s research and national security cyber sites in Washington.

Brigham Young University and DePaul University placed second and third, respectively, during the contest.

Other sponsors of the competition included the Department of Homeland Security, Accenture, Walmart, National Security Agency, Boeing, FireEye, Amazon, Palo Alto Networks and Microsoft.
