Mark Maybury, a vice president and chief technology officer at Mitre, has been named VP and chief security officer at the non-profit organization.
Maybury will also serve as director of the National Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center that Mitre runs for the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Mitre said Friday.
He will oversee partnerships, outreach programs and other strategies that seek to improve Mitre’s cybersecurity posture.
The three-decade cyber and computing industry veteran has served as chief scientist at the U.S. Air Force.
Maybury started his career at Mitre in 1990 as executive director and general manager of the firm’s information technology division.
He is a member of the Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee, Air Force Scientific Advisory Board and the Defense Science Board.
Maybury is a holder of three patents and author of 10 computing books and numerous articles on cybersecurity.
